DIY Herb Pot with Recycled Candle Jar

Over Easter, one of our designers received a small lavender plant from her family. Unfortunately, she had no herb pots at home and the plant wasn't very well protected - the dirt was getting everywhere. She knew she wasn't going to have time to go pick up pots, so she started looking for objects around the house. Desperate, she almost used a food storage container when she came across a candle that was no longer holding it's light. Instead of throwing it out, she wondered if the lavender plant would fit in the old candle jar - perfect fit!

This Earth Day, we're celebrating with this very simple DIY. This was a 14.5 oz 3-wick candle jar from Bath and Body Works (their summer candles are so delicious smelling). The label peels off easily so you have a beautiful glass jar. I suggest getting candles in different colors because when there's about half an inch of candle left, it's a beautiful pop of color at the bottom of your herb pot. Or if you're more of a neutral girl, go with the beige or white.

And just a helpful tip: be careful when watering, drizzle water in slowly do you don't have a muddy mess!

I'm not sure how long this pot will last before the lavender outgrows it, but if you're looking for a small solution for hopefully a few months and you have some old candle jars lying around, give it a try!
